Matsapha is a town in the African country Swaziland, located between 26°31′00″ S latitude and 31°19′00″ E longitude, at an elevation of 625 meters above sea level. It is situated in the Upper Middleveld of the country in the Manzini region, around 11 km west of the city of Manzini and 35 km northwest of Mbabane, the capital of Swaziland. Spread over an area of 2000 hectares, Matsapha is the site of the only commercial airport of Swaziland, the Matsapha International Airport. The town of Matsapha is well served by hotels, restaurants, pharmacy and police station. Matsapha developed as an industrial park in the year 1965 and was upgraded as an urban area in 1969.


How to reach Matsapha?

Matsapha is home to the Matsapha International Airport, situated within the town premise. The airport handles flights to Johannesburg in South Africa, served by Airlink and Swaziland Airlink. There is a car rental at the airport and also visitors can wait until the arrival of bus for cost effective airport travel.

Matsapha connects all the major cities of the country by minibus services, including Mbabane, Manzini and Lobamba. Apart from minibuses, rental cars and bikes are also available to move within Matsapha.

Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary:

The Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary is the hotspot of mountain bikers and horse riders, situated around 20 km west of the centre of Matsapha. It is the most often visited reserve and oldest preserved area of Swaziland.



Royal capital of Swaziland, Lobamba is a historic city, housing different tourist attractions that have their own specialties, attracting tourists from all around the country year round. Some such top attractions include the King Sobhuza II Memorial Park, the National Museum of Swaziland and the Somhlolo Stadium. Lobamba is located around 20 km northwest of Matsapha.
