Barranquilla city is situated in Atlantico Department in northern part of Colombia close to Caribbean Sea. Barranquilla is the largest and capital city of Atlantico department situated next to delta of the Magdalena River. History of Barranquilla:

Barranquilla was established in the year 1533 and between the years 1627 and 1637, farm was founded on the banks of the river channel. During the period of Colombian War of Independence, people of the region supported the pro independence forces. After the establishment of port in the region by Spain gained reorganization in the region. In the year 1885, revolutionary forces under the guidance of General Ricardo Gaitan Obeso occupied the city and in the year 1905, Atlantico department was created.
