Multan is one of the major cities of Pakistan situated on the banks of the Chenab River is the 5th largest city in population in Pakistan. Multan is located about 350 kms southwest of provincial capital Lahore and about 560 kms southwest of national capital Islamabad.

Multan was earlier known by Kashtpur, Hanspur, Bagpur and Sanb or Sanahpur. The present name of Multan derives from the Sanskrit language word ‘Mulasthana’.
