Bhedaghat town is located in the district of Jabalpur in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. Bhedaghat is at a distance of 20 km from the capital of Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur. The geographical coordinates puts the place at 23.130 N and 79.800 E. The place is situated close to the banks of Narmada River. In summer season the temperature ranges from 22 to 40 degrees and in winter season the temperature ranges from 10 to 27 degrees. Bhedaghat is 280 meters above sea level. There are plenty of temples built during the 10th century by the Kalachuri dynasty.

History of Bhedaghat

In the pre-colonial times, the place was ruled by Ashoka. Later the Parmar dynasty ruled Bhedaghat. They were then overthrown by the Kalachuri dynasty who then expanded their kingdom boundaries towards the eastern parts of the country, India.

In the early 13th century, the Gonds took over the reign of Bhedaghat. During the reign of Gonds the city thrived and flourished. After the collapse of the Gonds the Marathas ruled. Later, in the 19th century the British conquered the city of Bhedaghat and established their supremacy.

In 1947, after India sought independence from the British Raj, Bhedaghat was merged with Madhya Pradesh state.
