Masis which encompasses the parishes such as Ulukhanlu, Narimanlu and Zangibasar is a township in Ararat Province, Armenia. It is positioned on the left basin of the rivulet Hrazdan and is just about 14 km from the state capital Yerevan. Masis is placed amidst the ancient city of Artashat and the state capital Yerevan. It is a commercially well developed city. The city comprises of several hamlets that extends up to the river Aras. Tourist Attractions in Masis

Dvin

Dvin is just about 23 km from the city of Masis. It used to be the business center and the ancient capital of the Medieval Armenia.  The city was established in the year 335 BC by the then sovereign named Khosrov III of Armenia. It houses the Cathedral of S. Grigor which is positioned in the central square of the prehistoric conurbation. At present only the remnants of the splendid capital are left behind.

Mount Ararat

Masis or Greater Ararat

The best time to visit Masis is during the months of July to September. The weather is warm and dry during this period of the year. The summer tends to be hot. There is moderate rainfall during the monsoon season. The climate in the winter is very cold.

Accessibility to Masis

By Road: Public and private transportations provide ample of buses from Ararat prefecture to Masis. Ararat region is well connected by buses to the capital city Yerevan which is sited 18 kms away and Gyumri is about 135 kms from Masis. One can hire private taxis to go around the city.

By Train:  The train station of Masis serves the state capital Yerevan and has frequent trains from Yerevan.
