Mamfe is a city situated in the Southwest Region of Cameroon, at 5°46′ N 9°17′ E, around 60 kilometers from the Cameroon-Nigeria border and 260 kilometers north of the Cameroon’s largest city, Douala. Mamfe is a small city holding a few tourist attractions, including the old German bridge and Mamfe Cathedral. Mamfe is also noted for traditional medicine. Due to its nearness with the Nigerian border, Mamfe is also home to a considerable number of the Nigerian population.

Mamfe generally experiences a temperature of 27 to 37°C and it reaches up to 49°C between February and April while the dry season runs in the city.

 

History of Mamfe:

The name Mamfe may be derived from the Bayangi language and probably Mamfe was named by the Germans during their rule in Cameroon. Along with the German reign, Mamfe also witnessed the French and British rule in its history.

 

How to reach Mamfe?

There is an airport in Mamfe but currently it is not serving flight. So international tourists are needed to reach the Douala Airport first and after getting there, one can choose bus or airport taxi to get Mamfe.
