Bafoussam is a city in the West Region of Cameroon, located around 1,521 meters above sea level, between 5°28′ N latitude and 10°25′ E longitude, around 290 kilometers northwest of Yaoundé, the capital of Cameroon and 250 kilometers northeast of the country’s largest city, Douala. Bafoussam is the hometown of a renowned former national soccer player Geremi Sorele Njitap Fotso.

Bafoussam is noted as an important coffee, tobacco and tea growing region and also renowned as a night life center, which is focused on the area, named Akwa. Also the city is packed with restaurants, a movie theater, supermarkets and many other entertainment centers. The major localities of Bafoussam are Djeleng, Famla, Kamkop, Banego and Quartier Haussa. Bafoussam experiences a tropical wet and dry.

 

How to reach Bafoussam?

Bafoussam hosts an airport, but service is not regular, so it is advised for visitors to reach either Douala International Airport (around 250 kilometers) or Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport (310 kilometers) first and then take bus or taxi from there to Bafoussam. Both of these airports have international connections, including the cities of Paris, Brussels and Istanbul.

Buses are common all around Bafoussam and one can also use taxis at a cost of 100F in which half of the city can be reached.
