Rold Skov is the 2nd largest park in Denmark geographically placed between 56°48′ N latitude and 9°49′ E longitude. The park was named after the village of Rold which is situated towards the southern side of the forest. Rold Skov is home to Rebild National Park which was established by Danish-Americans in the year 1912 where the Independence Day of USA is celebrated with great enthusiasm.

The forest of Rold Skov houses the towns of Arden, Rebild and Skørping along with Rold. It is situated about 35 km away from Aalborg, 100 km from Aarhus and 395 km from Copenhagen, the capital city of Denmark.

 

How to reach Rold Skov?

Aalborg Airport is one of the major airports of Denmark and the nearest airport to Rold Skov, located around 40 km away from Rold Skov with air connectivity to Amsterdam, London, Istanbul, Barcelona, Oslo, Stavanger, Stockholm, Malaga and many other major European cities.

Rebild National Park:

Rebild National Park is the most popular site in Rold Skov and is one of the major tourist attractions in Denmark, visited by 400,000 tourists annually. It was established to celebrate Independence Day of USA (4th of July) in 1912 by Danish-Americans which is the largest independence celebration of United States outside the USA. Other than speech by Danish and American politicians, it also features different entertainment programs.

Aarestrup Church:

Aarestrup Church is located within Arden Municipality in Rold Skove. It is an ancient church constructed several hundred years ago in late Gothic architecture style. A wooden sculpture and tower are the highlights of the church.

 

Blenstrup Church:

Situated in Skoerping in Rold Skov, Blenstrup Church is a Romanesque period church with porch and Gothic tower. Pulpit of the church dates back to 1700 and the altarpiece of the church were formed in the middle 1600’s.
