Kudal is located in the district of Sindhudurg in the state of Maharashtra on the Indian subcontinent. The coordinates to Kudal are 16.0080 N and 73.6870 E. Kudal is 21 meters above sea level. Temperatures in summer season ranges from 230 C to 370 C and in winter season the temperature ranges from 130 C to 300 C. The Konkan railway runs through this town linking Mumbai to Mangalore.

History of Kudal

Since Kudal town is located in the state of Maharashtra it is quite obvious that the town was ruled by Marathas before the British East India Company invaded the West Coast of the Indian country. In the year from 1664 to 1667, one of the great Maratha ruler, named Shivaji created the historical fort at Sindhudurg near Kudal town. Ever since then the Fort was known as Sindhudurg fort. This fort has stood the test of time. The Fort is built on a rocky island.
