Bafilo is a city in the Kara Region of Togo, located around 20 km south of the regional capital, Kara and 385 km north of the national capital, Lome. Bafilo is a city with many interesting specialties like a large impressive mosque, important weaving industry and typical wagassi cheese. Bafilo is also popular for Bafilo Falls, which is situated in the vicinity of the city. Bafilo is geographically positioned between 9°21′ N latitude and 1°16′ E longitude.

Kara region covers an area of 11,738 sq. km and shares borders with Savanes Region to the north, Centrale Region towards the south, Northern Region of Ghan towards the west and Atakora department of Benin towards the east.

Connectivity to Bafilo:

The Niamtougou International Airport is the closest airport to Bafilo but currently no airlines serve the airport. So international tourists are needed to reach Lome–Tokoin Airport first and afterwards visitors can wait until the arrival of the bus or use a rental car to get Bafilo. Lome–Tokoin Airport operates flights from Casablanca, Brussels, Paris, Niamey and many global cities and is located around 385 km south of Bafilo. Minibuses are mainly used for local travel in Bafilo.

Bafilo Falls:

The Bafilo Falls is an excellent waterfall on the outskirts of Bafilo city. It is the first preference of visitors coming to the city from time to time. The waterfalls itself is amazing to view and also way to reach it is enthralling.

Kran National Park:

Situated around 130 km northwest of Bafilo, the Kran National Park spans over an area of 1,636 sq. km and houses a wide range of animal species, mainly elephants. The park was established in 1950.

Kara is one of the important cities of Togo, located around 20 km north of Bafilo. It is the site of an international airport, Niamtougou International Airport and many natural as well as manmade tourist attractions. It can be reached by a rental car.
