Arras is positioned on the Scarpe River on the northern part of France is the capital of Pas-de-Calais department, spans a total area of 4.49 square miles (11.63 square kilometers) and positioned at a normal elevation of 72 meters (236 feet) above the sea level. Arras is bounded by Achicourt, Maroeuil, Croisillers, Ervillers, Vimy and Savy-Berlette and situated at the distance of just 180 kilometers from Paris, capital of France and coordinates of Arras are 50.2897° N, 2.7808° E.

 

History of Arras:

Arras was established by the Belgae ethnic group of the Atrebates on the mount of Baudimont and in 4th century, Saint Inoccent converted populace of the town to Christianity but was killed in 410 during the attack on the town. In the year 1180, the French Crown granted a commercial charter and became center for banking and trade and industries were established in the 4th century. Battle of series was fought in the city during First World War and chain of tunnel was constructed to protect the troop.

Les places:

Les places is one of the well-known places surrounded by Cobblestone and has collection of 155 unique facades of Flemish baroque architecture and during the rule of Spanish Netherlands in the year 1492, the ruler developed architecture in the town.
