Mingachevir is a conurbation in Azerbaijan. The city was established in the year 1948. It is alleged that, Mingachevir was explored by the German militia who were imprisoned during the Second World War. The city forms a section of the command center in Azerbaijan. The city has the total area about 47 sq km. Mingachevir has an altitude 545 meters above sea level. The explorations have revealed that people inhabited in this city during the 4^th century. The city has been the onlooker to the battle between the prevailing militia of Roman commandant Pompey and the militia of Albanian chief Oris. The Mingachevir hydroelectric power station that was constructed subsequent to the World War II serves the major cities in and around Mingachevir. The city has seen rapid commercial development in the recent years. Mingachevir is about 125 kms away from Azerbaijan.
