Kangra District in the Indian state of Himachal Pradesh. It is situated about 205 km northwest of state capital city Shimla. Jwalamukhi is located between latitude 31.88° in the north and longitude 76.32° in the east and is positioned about 610 meters from the mean level of sea.

Jwalamukhi is widely known for Jwalamukhi Devi Temple dedicated to goddess Jwalamukhi. This temple lies on Dharamsala-Shimla Road situated about 21 km from Jwalamukhi Railway Station. It is one of the most famous temples of Goddess Durga.


History of Jwalamukhi Devi Temple:

Jwalamukhi Devi Temple is a historical temple and also has several theories about its origin. The famous King Mahmud Ghazni demolished Jwalamukhi Devi Temple during the period of 11th century. After a few years, the local kings of Jwalamukhi redeveloped the temple with great design and architecture. The temple was visited by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in the year 1815 and he had donated gold plates to Jwalamukhi Devi Temple.

Taragarh Palace:

Taragarh Palace is a prominent tourist attractions placed near Jwalamukhi Town covered by full of tea gardens. It was established in the year 1930. Primarily it was constructed for the purpose of resort, later was purchased by Royal family of Jammu and Kashmir, now has been converted into a heritage hotel.


Judges Court:

Judges Court is situated in Pragpur Town covered by mangos, litchi, grape, parsimmon, citrus and plum trees. It is a three hundred year old monument and was the house of Justice Sir Jai La.
