Dolisie, earlier called Loubomo, is a city belonging to the Kimongo District in the Niari Department of the Republic of the Congo, situated around 290 meters above sea level. It is the 3rd largest city of the nation in terms of population. It is also noted as a railway hub, being the junction of the east-west Congo-Ocean Railway. The wood and lumber industries are the other major economy sources of Dolisie.

Dolisie is situated around 160 km northeast of the city of Pointe-Noire and 400 km west of the country’s capital, Brazzaville. Dolisie also houses an airport and railway station.


History of Dolisie:

Dolisie originated as a railway station on the Congo-Ocean Railway line and got its name from the vicegerent of Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, Albert Dolisie. Its population substantially increased during the Republic of the Congo Civil War between 1997 and 1999.

Conkouati-Douli National Park:

Coming under the Kouilou Department, the Conkouati-Douli National Park is a coastal national park covering an area of 5,049.5 km². Established on August 14, 1993, the park is located around 2 km west to Dolisie and holds a rich vegetation and faunal species including Ahizophora racemosa and Avicennia nititta and leopards, Chimpanzees and bushpigs.


Reserve de Faune de Tsoulou:

Located in Niari, around 85 km away from Dolisie, the Reserve de Faune de Tsoulou is a wildlife reserve which can be reached by rental vehicle from Dolisie and one can also use a guided tour for easy exploration of the reserve.
