Bangui is situated in the south western part of Central African Republic is the capital and largest city in the country. Bangui spans over a total area of 67 square kilometers (26 square miles) and situated at an elevation of 369 meters (1,211 feet) above the sea level on the banks of River Ubangi. Bangui is hub for administration, business, trade, transportation, education, health care, commercial and service industries.

Bangui economy depends on tourism, trade, agriculture, business and transportation and surrounded by Bokila, Damara, Libenge Mbaiki, Boda and Bossembele and the city is popular for its arts, music, sports, shopping and cuisines. Coordinates of Bangui is 4.3667° N, 18.5833° E.

History of Bangui:

According to the historians, it is believed that Bangui region was inhabited from Iron Age and various archaeological artifacts are found in the region. Europeans established colonies from 1889 and they established military post and forts in the region and due to its location along the river, Bangui developed rapidly. In the year 1970, University of Bangui was established in the region and French ruled for several years and developed the colonies.

Bangui is situated along the River Ubangi and bounded by mountains and experiences tropical savanna climate with warm season from November to March and cold season from June to September and ideal time to visit Bangui is from December to March.

Place de la Republique is one of the main architecture of the city situated around 4 kilometers from center of Bangui is a large white arch and was constructed in the memory of Jean-Bedel Bokassa, the corrupt dictator in the city.
