Sirmour is a district in Himachal Pradesh, India. The landscape of the region is mainly mountainous. History of Sirmour

The history of Sirmour dates back to 10th century when Sirmour used to be an autonomous territory in India. It was established by Raja Rasaloo of Jaisalmer in the year 1090 and instigated the forename after his then antecedent named Sirmour. It is stated that Sirmour was once a section of the Greater Nepal and later was converted to a princely state under British India, placed in the province that is at present the Sirmour district in Himachal Pradesh . The state was also entitled as Nahan subsequently to its major city Nahan. Sirmour was controlled by the leaders of Rajput ancestry, who were entitled as Raja.

Habban

Jaitak fort

The Jaitak knolls which lies in the vicinity of Nahan and Sirmour depict a majestic Jaitak citadel suspended at the crest of its terrain. Ranjor Singh Thapa the chieftain of Gorkhs had invaded and rummaged through the Nahan citadel and castle and built this magnificent Jaitak citadel at the crest of the knoll.
