Sanya is sited on the Asian continent in the southern region of the country, China. The place is located in the Hainan province and popular tourism site in Chinese Island. History of Sanya

As per historians, the place Sanya was ruled by the Qin dynasty during the period 221 to 206 B.C. During those times the place was known as Yazhou. In the year 1912, the place was named Yaxian. The year 1941, witnessed the invasion of Japan over the entire region of Sanya. Under their control the port at Sanya harbored many of their warships. The Japanese invasion ended in the year 1945. In the 1950, Sanya was under the control of the People’s Liberation Army. In 1958, Yaxian was separated from Sanya. Later on 26th September in the year 1987 it was merged with Sanya and Sanya city was formed. In 2007, the city was the first place where the day1 of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games was held.
