Same Tourist Places to Visit in Same, East Timor, Asia

Same is the capital city of Manufahi District in East Timor positioned between latitude 9°00′ in the south and longitude 125°39′ in the east. It is a sub district in the center of East Timor and has a population of around 25,000. Same is situated about 115 km south to Dili, the capital of East Timor.

Same was fully demolished by the Indonesian Militias after the Independence of Timor-Leste from Indonesia. The rebuilding project of Same is under progress by Friends of Same. The climate of the Same is well suitable to coffee cultivation and the red coffee “cherries” grown between the months of June and September.

 

History of Same:

Same played the major role at the time of Independence of East Timor from Indonesia. Most part of Same was destroyed after the Independence of East Timor by Indonesian Militias. Presently, Same is gradually facing towards development.

 

Culture, Food and Shopping in Same:

The people of Same are hard workers, they spend most of the time in agricultural lands. The major crops grown in the lands of Same include rice, corn, cassava, beans and tubers. Other than agricultural crops, the farmers of Same have big hand in producing the red coffee “cherries”. The natives of Same speak Malayo-Polynesian language Mambai along with official languages Tetum and Portuguese.

The cuisine of Same is inherited by Portugal and Indonesia. Batar daan, Ikan sabuko, Tapai, Feijoada and Budu are the popular dishes of Same natives. Also the hotels of Same provide the food prepared of sea fishes and chicken.

Same houses several handicrafts centres and modern shopping centres of clothes and electronics. Recently, few retail outlets have started their operations all around the Same city.

 

How to reach Same?

Same is located in the heart of East Timor, due to this all the surrounding regions buses pass through Same City. Also regular bus services are available to Dili, Ermera, Baucau, Aileu, Ainaro, Liquica and Manatuto from Same City Bus Stand. Taxi is the good option to travel within the city and to reach tourist spots.

Same is served by Suai Airport, located about 87 km away from the heart of Same. Other nearby airport to Same includes Comoro Airport (122 km).

Mount Kablaki:

Mount Kablaki is a prime tourist attraction located near Same. It is visited by higher majority of Australian tourists and Indonesian tourists because of its near proximity with Australia and Indonesia. Near Mount Kablaki a village is located covered by dense vegetation with pleasant cool climate and provides best accommodation services.

 

Cape Fatucama:

Cape Fatucama Beach is considered as one of the top tourist attraction of East Timor located in Dili, about 120 kms away from Same City. There are several resorts located on the edge of beach and these resorts provide varieties of food with other special amenities
