Salou is a town situated in the east of Spain in the province of Tarragona. Salou is popular for beaches, historical buildings and monuments and sports activities and the town is crowded during the summer season. The economy of the Salou town depends on tourism industries and local festivals and situated around 110 kilometers from Barcelona and 550 kilometers from Madrid, capital of Spain.

Salou is surrounded by Cambrils, Vila-Seca, Reus, Tarragona, Constanti, and Mont-roig del Camp and spans an area of 15.1 square kilometers (5.8 square miles) and at an elevation of 5 meters (16 feet) above the sea level. Coordinates of Salou are 41.0778° N, 1.1289° E.

 

History of Salou:

Salou became on the popular town during the rule of Greeks and Romans due the port and later in 1229, James I of Aragon captured the region and later it came into the hands of Alfons III of Aragon in 1286 and after the fall of kingdom, it became home to pirates. The first railway station was established in the year 1865 and Salou town flourished from then and later tourism industry boomed in the town.
