Shah Alam is the capital city of Selangor state in Malaysia covering a total area of 290.3 sq kms is bound by Kuala Selangor, Petaling Jaya, Port Klang, Putrajaya and West Port as its surrounding cities. Shah Alam is one of the well developed cities in Malaysia that has well defined infrastructure services, medical centers, universities, schools, recreation facilities and a major tourist hub in Selangor. Shah Alam coordinates with 3.5’ degree North Latitude and 101.32’ degree East Longitude.

 

Shah Alam History:

Formerly Shah Alam was called as Sungai Renggam and was known for rubber and oil palm estates and industries. Gradually Sungai Renggam was replaced by Shah Alam as it was named after late father Sultan Alam Shah, father of the former Sultan of Selangor. Shah Alam was the first planned city in Malaysia after it achieved independence from the British in the year 1957 and in the year 2000 Shah Alam was granted the city status by the Mayor of Malaysia.
