San Pedro de Macoris is a capital of San Pedro de Macoris province in the Dominican Republic.  San Pedro de Macoris spans an area of 58.81 square miles (152.33 square kilometers) and located at an elevation of 13 feet (4 meters) above the sea level and cultural hub in the province. San Pedro de Macoris is home to Universidad Central del Este University and economy of the city is based on the sugar industry. San Pedro de Macoris is surrounded by Consuelo, Quisqueya, Juan Dolio, Guayacanes, Boca Chica and La Romana and situated at the distance of 83 kilometers from the capital of Dominican Republic, Santo Domingo and coordinates are 18.4500° N, 69.3000° W.


History of San Pedro de Macoris:

Cubans established the San Pedro de Macoris in the 19th century and established the sugar cane farming in the province and a few years later they established the sugar cane industry in the region which was well known all over the world and by 1894 lots of companies established in the region.

Alto de Chavon is a historical site which was built in the year 1976 but was open to public from 1982 is a facsimile of a medieval village Mediterranean and buildings is surrounded by restaurants, gift shops and art galleries.
