Saint Croix is an island and a county in United States Virgin Islands located in the Caribbean Sea, is the largest island of the territory covering an area of 82.88 sq. km. with length of 45 km and width of 11 km. Christiansted is the largest and major settlement of Saint Croix.

Saint Croix is placed at 17°44′23″ N 64°44′20″ W at a maximum altitude of 1,165 feet.

 

History of Saint Croix:

From 1650 to 1733 Saint Croix was under the hand of France and later France sold it to Danish West Indies Company on June 13, 1733. In 1916, United States purchased Saint Croix along with Danish West Indies from Denmark in the Treaty of the Danish West Indies.

Saint Croix is catered by Henry E. Rohlsen International Airport with connections to major cities of USA, Puerto Rico and the destinations of other Virgin Islands Archipelago.
