Anasco is a municipality of Puerto Rico, an unincorporated territory of the United States, located between 18°18′58″ N latitude and 67°08′23″ W longitude on the west coast of Puerto Rico Island. The economy of Anasco is centered on flourishing tourism and moonshine rum production.

 

Geography of Anasco:

Anasco is bounded by Mayagüez on the south, Rincón in the north and San Sebastián towards east. It has a total area of 92 sq. km.

 

History of Anasco:

On October 18 1733, the town of Anasco was established and was named in the honor of a colonist from the Extremadura of Spain, Don Luis de Anasco, when Anasco was under the rule of the Spanish. Anasco was severly affected by the 1918 San Fermin earthquake when its parish church and town hall were destroyed.

 

Connectivity to Anasco:

Eugenio Maria De Hostos Airport in Mayagüez is the closest airport to Anasco situated at a distance of 10 km. It is served by Cape Air with scheduled flights to and from San Juan. Tourists can reach Anasco by taking a taxi or car from the airport.

Anasco is connected with famous tourist centre, Aguadilla through road PR-2 in the north and with Mayaguez in the south.

Cars can be hired at any of the local travel agencies of Anasco and rental scooters are also available to move within the city.
