ISKCON temples – Publicizing Krishna Consciousness Globally
A spiritual song sung by the devotees of Krishna that evoke your consciousness goes something like this “Hare Krishna Hare Krishna, Krishna Hare, Hare Rama Hare Rama and Rama Hare”. The International Society for Krishna Consciousness nothing but ISKCON is an association that was founded by Swami Prabhupada that has really bonded the devotees of Krishna under one big roof.
The initiation:
Swami Prabhupada was born in Kolkata, Lord Krishna’s devotee. In the year 1966 Guru Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati who was from Allahabad motivated him and traveled to unite States to spread the message of Lord Krishna. He took part in the discussion of Bhagawath Gita in New York. He managed to draw the attention of American Youth regarding this through the small camps that taught Yoga and Meditation. Soon they became strong devotees and traveled all over the world to spread Lord Krishna’s preaching’s.
This association slowly grew up worldwide with the name ISKCON that is popularly known as Hare Krishna Movement in the west. ISKON temples were built in major cities like New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Montreal and New Mexico initially then later in countries of Europe, South America, Australia, Africa, and Asia.
At present you get to see more than 550 ISKCON Temples all over the world. About 42 temples are in India and here people believe that it’s westernized. You can see senior members going all over the world to spread the preachings of Lord Krishna. Some of the famous ISKCON Temples in India are in Mayapur, Vrindavan, Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore.
Promoting religious concord
In the books written by Sri Prabhupada it is said that ISKCON is preaching the spiritual knowledge all over the world. It is mainly working on educating spiritualism that would lead your life in the right path.
ISKCON is mainly working on loving relationships with Lord Krishna and living devotees. Some of the special occasions held in ISKCON premises are Kirtan, Aarti, Pravachan and Prasadam. Its preachings are similar to that of Bhagavad-Gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam. Visiting ISKCON temple once will really inspire you and revive your mind, body and soul.
