Abadan is the capital City of Abadan County in Khuzestan Province of Iran, situated about 975 kms southwest of national capital Tehran. History of Zhezkazgan:

As per historians, the Turks were the first settlers in this region during the 6th century. From the period 1917 to 1920, at the time of the Russian Civil War this region bore a deserted look. Commercialization began with the entry of mining companies in the year 1938. History of Zhambyl:

As per the discoveries made by the Archeologists, the region formed part of the silk route which linked trade with countries such as China, India Byzantium and Persia. During the 6th century, the entire region of present day Jambyl province was controlled by the first turks. From the 4th to 3rd century the turks ruled entire Central Asia along with Arabs and Persians. During this period the city Taraz thrived. Many developments took place and trade prospered. The economy of the region prospered to great heights and the region formed a part of the silk route.

In the 9th century, the Persian conquered entire Central Asia. Existing religions were then converted to Islam and Churches were converted to Mosques. From 10 to 12th century, the region was invaded by Turkic Karakhanids who defeated the Persian inhabitants. The city was invaded in the year 1220 by the Mongols. The mongols plundered and looted the city of its wealth. The importance of the city was forgotten and so was the trade route.

In the 19th century a fortress was constructed on the ruins in the region of Taraz. People from neighboring regions began to settle down in areas surrounding the fortress. The name of the fortress was changed to Aulie-Ata in the year 1856.

The entire province of Zhambyl was conquered by the Russians in the year 1864. In the year 1938, the capital of Zambyl was changed to Dzhambul.

The year 1991 witnessed the end of the Soviet rule and the beginning of an independent country, Kazakhstan. In the year 1992 the province was named as Zhambyl and in 1997 its capital city was named as Taraz.
