History of Zhairem:

Since Zhairem is part of Karagandy province most of the history is related to Karagandy. During the Soviet rule, coal resources were discovered in most parts of Karaganda. The Soviets and the Russians exploited these vast resources. In this process the entire population in the town was made to evacuate the region and move toward the south. After the end of the Soviet rule in the year 1997, Karaganda became part of the country, Kazakhstan. From then on the place began to develop in all spheres.

History of Zaysan:

According to historians, a fortress was built by the Russians which happened to extend their boundaries towards the southeast of their country, Russia into neighboring nomadic region of Northeast Kazakhstan in the year 1752. The fort attained its name after the Great Russian Empire who conquered the region. In the year 1807 the place was declared a city. A Russian Military base was established in the town, Zaysan during the year 1868. In the year 1917, before the breakout of the Russian Revolution the place was one the most well known trading centers for carpets and fabrics made of Silk.

History of Ust-Kamenogorsk:

Ust-Kamenogorsk was established in the year 1720 on the banks of the river Ulba and fort was established in the region by Russian Emperor Peter the Great. Later in the year army of Russian constructed the new forts at the meeting point of two rivers Ulba and Irtysh and named as Kamennaya Fortress. Ust-Kamenogorsk was the capital of Semipalatinsk Oblast in the year 1868 and first hydroelectric plant was developed in the city by Georgy Malenkov. History of Oral:

As per the records, Oral was known as Yaitsk because of the river Yaik flowing through the place and in the year 1613. Many battles were fought in and around this region. In the year 1775 on 15^th January, the name of the river Yaik was changed to Ural River by the then Empress Catherine II. One of the rebellions of the region whose name was Pugachev led an insurrection and conquered the fortress of Oral, thereby gaining control over the city in the year 1773. The city was under his rule till 17^th April 1774. The Russian Imperial later invaded the city and took it under their possession. One of the great poet and writer by the name Pushkin who hailed from Russia visited the city on September in the year 1883 where he got inspired and wrote the book by the name ‘The Captains Daughter’.

At the time of Russian Civil War, Oral city was under the control of the Cossaks. When the country Kazakhstan was formed in the year 1991, the name of the place Uralsk was changed to Oral.
