Castries is the capital and the biggest city in the Saint Lucia country. History of Castries:

Castries city was established in the year 1650, by French and named as Carenage which means “safe anchorage”. In the year the city was renamed as Castries after Charles Eugène Gabriel de La Croix, marquis de Castries, commander of French. In the year 1803, the British captured the city and constructed the major port in the city and later it turned to be a main coaling station.
