Sarchu is situated in Leh-Manali Highway bound by Himachal Pradesh in south and Ladakh in the north is positioned at an elevation of 4290 meters above sea level. Sarchu is located on the banks of Tsarap Chu river and has the presence of Indian army camp deployed at the borders. It coordinates with 32.89’ degree North Latitude and 77.53’ degree East Longitude.

Sarchu Camping:

This is one of the best places to be in this part of the world as it is well known for Himalayan snow capped mountains, rivers, glaciers, camping. Tourists can also undertake adventurous sporting activities like trekking, hiking, rock climbing, river surfing and paragliding.

Tsarap River:

Best Season to Visit Sarchu:

The best time of the year to visit Sarchu is during months of June to October as the weather remains pleasant and favorable for the visitors. One can also visit Sarchu during summers as the place remains cool with maximum temperature hovering around mid 20 degrees. It is not advisable to visit the place during months of winter from November to February because the region experiences severe snowfalls and landslides. At times the minimum temperature drops to less than -20 degrees which makes Sarchu most unfavorable for the tourists during this point of time.
