Nema is Mauritanian town situated in the southeastern part of the country, between 16°37′0″ N latitude and 7°15′0″ W longitude. It is the administrative centre of both Hodh Ech Chargui Region and Néma Department. The northern and eastern parts of Nema are enclosed by small mountain plateaus, which receive a substantial number of nature enthusiasts, mainly hikers. Nema is a multiethnic city, having a population of Moor, Pulaar and Bambara people. Nema facilitates a hospital, an airport, hotels, a wide range of shops and schools ranging from primary to high school. Nema is situated around 1000 km east of Nema, the capital of Mauritania.
