History of Aizawl

 

The history dates back to the year 1890, when an officer of Assam Police Dally came with his 400 men troop to support Colonel Skipper’s troupe that was holding an operation against the tribal’s in the present Aizawl. Dally asked Skinner to build a fort here, thus were constructed buildings and stockades by the troops. The tribal uprising in 1890 and 1892 was suppressed by Mc Cabe. Gradually Aizawl city became the main headquarters of the 1st Assam Rifles.

Vantawng Waterfalls are located about 137 km away from the Aizawl city. Vantawng Water Falls are the highest and most splendid falls in Mizoram, and surrounded by luxuriant woodland swarming with bamboo groves. The falls is 750 feet elevated. This is a place of breathtaking splendor.

 

Luangmual Handicrafts Centre

 

Luangmual Handicrafts Centre is 7 km away from the Aizawl city. One can find the ceremonial bamboo hat, which is made using a waterproof material.

 

Pukzing Cave

 

Pukzing Cave is 25 km broad and is the largest cave.  It had been known that a strong man called “Mualzavata” carved the cave using a barrette.

 

Bung

 

Bung is situated 15 km away from Aizawl, is a beautiful picnic spot which is surrounded by greenery in the midst of the hill area.
