Faizabad city is located in the Faizabad district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. The Ghaghra River flows through this district. The geographical coordinates puts the place at 26.780 N and 82.130 E. Faizabad spans over an area of 88 km2. Temperature ranges from 35 0C to 45 0C in summer and in winter season the temperature ranges from 6 0C to 25 0C.

History of Faizabad
According to ancient history, Faizabad was known as Saket which happened to be the palace of King Dashrath of the Ramayana era. In the Sanskrit language Saket means Heaven. But in the pre-colonial times, Faizabad became the first capital of the Nawabs of Awadh. Saadat Khan happened to be the first Nawab to rule Faizabad in 1722. He built his palace close to the city of Ayodhya. Developments in infrastructure took place under the reign of Nawab Shuja –Ud-Daula. The Nawab build a fort near the river Saryu. The city further prospered and its military power increased under the rule of Safdar Jang. In 1775, the Asaf-Ud-Daula moved the capital of his kingdom to Lucknow. Many monuments were built in and around the Faizabad city by the Nawabs. After the fall of the Nawab in the Faizabad region, in the year 1816, the British took control of the city.
Many historic national events took place in Faizabad. One such was the Sepoy Mutiny in 1857. The quit India movement and various other freedom struggles united the people of Faizabad. Such freedom struggles showed the patriotism in the people of Faizabad.
