History of Ulyanovsk:

Ulyanovsk was established by the boyar Bogdan Khitrovo in the year 1648 and Simbirsk fort was constructed on the hill top on the bank of River Volga and the fort was constructed to defend the town from Russian Empire. Later it lost its strategic location but later developed into an important regional hub but later in the year 1864, Ulyanovsk was destroyed due to the fire accident but later reconstructed and flourished. Ulyanovsk became prosperous after the construction of Kuybyshev hydroelectric plant and during the rule of Soviet rule it was the main tourism hub in the country.
