Singapore was part of Johor Sultanate between 16th and 19th century followed by Portuguese rule in the year 1613 A.D. The British arrived in Singapore in 1824 and controlled the region until in the year 1945 when it was attacked by Japanese Army forces. But the British forces repossessed Singapore in the same year after defeating the Japanese forces and in the year 1963 Singapore got its independence.
