History of San Diego:

As per the records, it is believed that San Diego was inhabited by San Dieguito and La Jolla people and Kumeyaay people settled in the region for about 10,000 years ago. In the year 1542, New Spain declared the bay for Spanish Emperor and Fort of Presidio was established on the Hill near the San Diego River by Gaspar de Portola in the year 1769 and majority of the population were from Alta California. After the independence from Spain, San Diego became the part of Mexico and during the Mexican American War between the years 1846 to 1848 the region of San Diego was taken over by the Americans.
