Rudraprayag is a town located in Rudraprayag district in Uttrakhand positioned at an elevation of 2936 feet above sea level. It has a literacy rate of over 75% and Hindi is the most widely spoken language of the people living in this part of the town. Rudraprayag is well known for rivers, pilgrimage centers and temples which is thronged by many tourists all round the year. It coordinates with 30.28’ degree North Latitude and 78.98’ degree East Longitude.

Kedarnath:

Kedarnath is situated 3581 meters above sea level has a temple dedicated to lord Shiva built in 8th century. Kedarnath is famous for one of the 12 Jyothirlingas of lord Shiva. It is visited by many tourists all round the year.

Chopta:

Chopta is located 2600 meters above the sea level covered by dense forests and lush greenery. It is also called as mini Switzerland as the place offers panoramic view of the Himalayan Mountain Ranges.

Jakholi:

Jakholi is a small village near Rudraprayag bound by forests, mountains, deep valleys lying on the confluence of river Ganges and river Mandakini. Other attractions near Jakholi are Chamundi Devi temple and Rudranath temple which are immensely popular among the visitors.

Augustmuni:

Augustmuni is located at a height of 1000 meters above sea level on the banks of river Mandakini. The place is also called as Augustmuni because it was here where sage Augustmuni undertook penance for several years. Tourists coming to this place can also visit the Augusteshwar Mahadev temple which is known for its fine carvings and architecture.

Khirsu:

Khirsu is situated in Rudraprayag is bound by mountains, rivers and glaciers is located at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level. Tourists visiting Khirsu can also visit the Ghandiyal Devta temple, Pauri Garhal, Ulkha Giri and Kandoliya mountain ranges which are a treat to the eyes.

Kalimath:

Kalimath is one of the Sidha Peetha famous for the temple of goddess Kali who is worshipped as the main deity in this temple. The temple attracts huge devotees during Navratri where the powerful goddess worshipped with full devotion and faith.

Ukhimath:

Ukhimath is renowned for temple of Omkareshwar which is also known to be the abode of lord Shiva. There is also a temple located near Omkareshwar temple where the tourists can have darshan of lord Shiva with five heads.

Guptkashi:

Guptkashi is situated 1319 meters above sea level which is known for temple of Vishwanath and Ardhanareshwar. Many devotees and tourists throng the temple during month of Sravan and Mahashivratri.

Gaurikund:

It is one of the popular pilgrim spot near Rudraprayag located at a height of 1982 meters above sea level which has a temple dedicated to goddess Parvati. It is said that Gaurikund is the place where goddess Parvati meditated to please lord Shiva.

Chandrashila:

Chandrashila is located in Rudraprayag is known for its rich flora and fauna. The tourists can have an awesome view of the Himalayas, glaciers and deep gorges. The place is also known for undertaking adventurous sporting activities like scaling, skiing and trekking.

Kartik Swami:

Kartik Swami is known for temple dedicated in name of Karthika, son of lord Shiva situated at an attitude of 3048 meters above sea level bound by Himalayan Mountain Peaks.

Sonprayag:

It is said that Sonprayag was the place where Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati got married to each other is located at a height of 1829 meters above sea level. Sonprayag is located where the two rivers Mandakini and Basuki meet and is toured by many visitors all round the year.
