Madumalai Wildlife Sanctuary is a Tiger Reserve lying on the northwestern part of the Nilgiris say approx 150 kms from Coimbatore. The Madumalai National Park shares its boundaries with Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Karnataka states. Madumalai Wildlife Sanctuary was found in the year 1940 and covers a total area of 321 sq kms situated at an elevation of 4154 feet above sea level. Madumalai National Park coordinates with 11.35’ degree North Latitude and 76.33’ degree East Longitude.

Madumalai National Park is home to many endangered and vulnerable species like Indian Elephant, Bengal Tiger, Indian Gaur and Indian Leopard. The park also have around 266 species of birds. Madumalai National Park is bound by Bandipur National Park and Nagarhole National Park in the north, Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary towards west and Mukurthi National Park and Silent Valley National Park in south and Satyamangalam Wildlife Sanctuary in the west.

Moyar River:

The river is located in the midst of dense jungles, where the tourists can watch the wild animals coming to drink water.

Moyar Falls:

Moyar Falls is located about 20 kms from the Madumalai National Park where river Moyar plunges into the deep gorge below Theppakadu.

Elephant Safari:

The tourists are taken for a elephant safari where they are made to seat on the elephant top managed by a mahout. The safari goes deep inside the forests where the visitors can get to see wild animals at a closer range.

Madumalai Museum:

The museum has some fine collection of some of the wild stuffed animals in their look alike size and attracts lot of tourists from all parts of the country.

Kallatty Falls:

The falls are located about 30 kms from Theppakadu and offer a breathtaking view for the public.

Pykara Lake:

The lake is about 40 kms from Theppakadu which is located in the midst of scenic beauty bound by lush greenery away from hustle and bustle of the city life. The lake also provides boating facility for the public which is a center of attraction.

Bandipur National Park:

This park is famous for Tiger Reserve and the park houses some of the rare endangered species of animals. Bandipur National Park is rich in natural vegetation and one can find many rare migratory birds coming to this park during time of migration and breeding. It is approx 64 kms from Madumalai National Park.

Wayanad Sanctuary:

This wildlife sanctuary is the 2nd largest sanctuary in Kerala that is blessed with dense green jungles and rich in flora and fauna which is at a distance of 88 kms from Madumalai.

Ooty:

Ooty is well known for hill station, cool weather, hills, rivers, tea estates, waterfalls and gardens is located 46 kms away from Madumalai.
