History of Barueri:

Barueri was established in the year 1560 and Nossa Senhora Da Escada Chapel by jesuit missionary was established in the region and Barueri means “Red flower that amazes” in Tupi Guarani language. Barueri gradually flourished after the construction of Sorocabana Railway in the year 1870 which was the major junction between São Paulo, Santana de Parnaíba and Pirapora do Bom Jesus and in the year 1948, Barueri grew as an independent city.
