Ardabil is the capital city of Ardabil Province in northwestern Iran situated about 590 kms northwest of national capital Tehran. Ardabil is home to two famous World Heritage Sites namely the eponym of the Safavid Dynasty and tomb of Shaikh Safi ad-Din.
