Zapala is a city belonging to the province of Neuquén in Argentina between 38°54′ S latitude and 70°04′ W longitude at the convergence of the major national and provincial highways. It is located in the proximity of Laguna Blanca National Park and one of the major ski resorts in the country.

 

Geography of Zapala:

Zapala is situated about 180 km west of Neuquen city and 1320 km southwest of Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina at an altitude of 1,012 meters covering an area of 452 sq. km. Zapala experiences a very cold winter and very hot summer.

 

History of Zapala:

Zapala was initially formed on 12 July 1913 and it achieved municipal status in the year 1948.
