Parnu city is situated on the coast of Parnu Bay in the Parnu County in Estonia. Parnu is a prominent tourism destination city in the country surrounded by distinct resorts, hotels, restaurants and beaches and Parnu River flows through the city and empty in Gulf of Riga. Parnu covers a total area of 32.22 square kilometers (12.44 square miles) and situated at an elevation of 10 meters (30 feet) above the sea level and surrounded by Audru, Papsaare, Sauga, Paikuse, Sindi, Silla and Reiu towns.

Tallinn, capital of Estonia is situated at the distance of 130 kilometers from Parnu city and coordinates are 58.3833° N, 24.5000° E.

 

History of Parnu:

Bishop of Ösel-Wiek established the city in the 1251 but destroyed in 1600. During the German rule in the country they established the small settlement in the town and named it has Pernau. Swedes captured the city by defeating Poles and Lithuanians in the year 1609 but later invaded by Russians in the year 1710 and became the part of independent Estonia in the year 1918.
