The Kerio Valley National Reserve lies in the Kerio Valley in the Eastern African country, Kenya. It is geographically positioned between 0°38′24″ N latitude and 35°36′31″ E longitude, between the Cherangani Hills and the Tugen Hills, covering a total area of 66 square kilometers. The reserve is situated around 40 km east of the town of Eldoret and 330 km northwest of the national capital, Nairobi. Established in the year 1983, the park is operated by the Kenya Wildlife Service. The reserve is well known for its eye-catching scenery, a large population of birdlife and elephants. A dry season from July and August is the preferred time to explore Kerio Valley National Reserve.

 

How to reach Kerio Valley National Reserve?

 

The Kerio Valley National Park is catered by Eldoret International Airport with scheduled flights from Nairobi and seasonal flights from Kisumu and Lodwar. The airport is situated around 55 km away from the park.

Visitors are advised to book private transfers for airport travel because there are taxis not common or one can wait for until the arrival of buses for inexpensive airport travel.

If one hired a rental car from the travel agency in Eldoret would be helpful for local travel, airport travel and to reach tourist destinations.
