Chiang Saen is a district in Chiang Rai Province and it is located towards the northern part of Thailand. Chiang Saen covers a total area of 554 Sq Kms and it shares the border with Laos and Myanmar.
Chiang Saen was founded by Tai migrants and was named as Yonok and it was the major city of Lanna Rulers and was later ruled by Chao Kawila of Chiangmai, at present several ruins are found in the city.
