History of Thessaloniki:

King Cassander of Macedon established the city around 315 BC and after the fall of the kingdom it was ruled by Roman Empire, Byzantine and in middle age ruled by Republic of Venice. Later captured by Ottoman region and during this rule Muslim and Jewish population grew rapidly in the region and constructed various mosques and castles in the region.
