Limoges is the capital of Haute-Vienne department situated in West-central part of the France. Limoges spans an area of 77.45 square kilometers (29.90 square miles) and positioned at normal elevation of 294 meters (965 feet) above the sea level and bounded by Nantiat, Compreignac, Ambazac, Bonnac-la-cote, Rilhac-rancon, Saint-Just-le-Martel, Feytiat, Veyrac, Nieul and Aixe-sur-Vienne.

History of Limoges:

Limoges was established by Romans around 10 BC by Augustus and had the facilities like amphitheatre, a theatre, a forum, baths and several sanctuaries. During the 3rd century the region was abandoned due to the Germanic tribes and later in 11th century after the establishment of Abbey of St. Martial, the population grew around the castle. During the French Revolution, several religious monuments were destroyed by the people and many years later industry was established in the city in 1768.
