History of Kansas:

Kansas was settled by Native Americans and the state was named after the Kansas people and residence of Kansas are called as “Kansans”. Francisco Vasquez de Coronado was the first European to explore the region in the year 1541 and in the year 1803, majority part of the state was claimed by the Americans but south west of the state was part of Spain, Mexico and Texas. Later many people from other parts of the country migrated to Kansas State and in the year 1861, the state became the slave free state in the United States. Black colonies were established in the state after the Civil War and Kansas was the first U.S. state to forbid all alcoholic beverages in the year 1881.
