Gwa is sited on the Asian continent towards the west of the Myanmar in Rakhine State. It is a town in the state of Rakhine and agriculture and fishing is the main form of living in the town. Gwa is sited at a distance of 500 km from the capital city Naypyidaw. The geographical coordinates puts the place at 18029’N and 94017’ E.

During summer season the average temperature is 340 C and in winter temperature drops to 70 C.

 

History of Gwa:

Since Gwa is a town in Rakhine State, most of its history is associated with the state’s history. Fishing was the main occupation of the people in this town before the arrival of the British in the region. After the arrival of the British the region near to the Sea began to develop into a port. Rice cultivated in Rakhine state was sold to traders who would export these goods along with other precious goods to foreign countries. Many battles were fought in this region before and during the British Rule, from the period 1784 till 1939.
