During 753 to 973 A.D, Latur was under the rule of the Rashtrakuta reign. King Dantidurga was the first ruler of Latur. Many wars were fought between invading rulers of other kingdoms. The year 974 A.D., witnessed the fall of Rashtrakuta reign over Latur. The people residing in Lachung, during ancient, were known as Lepcha People. The 9th century saw the arrival of Buddhism religion in the region. Many Tibetans migrated to Sikkim in the 11th century.
