The region of Salt was established by Macedonian army, during the rule of Alexander the Great and was identified as Saltus in Byzantine times. The region was shattered by Mongols but it was renovated by Baybars I during 1260 to 1277 and it was the capital of Ottoman Empire but in the 1830’s, it was devastated by the Egyptian governor Ibrahim Pasha. During the late 19^th century, Nablus expanded the trading route to Salt and from there the Salt region flourished in all segments.
