Bluefields is a municipality and the capital of the Region Autonoma del Atlantico Sur in Nicaragua, situated at the mouth of Escondido River on Bluefields Bay and geographically positioned at an elevation of 82 feet (25 meters) above the sea level and there are many villages in the municipality and the University of the Autonomous Regions of the Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast is located in the city. History of Bluefields:

Bluefields was the home for pirates on the Escondido River and later in the year 1602, one of the Dutch formed the colony in the region. Miskitos settled in the region in the year 1740 and later in the year 1847 various developments like Moravian Church and colonies were established in the region. Slaves from Jamaica arrived to Nicaraguan during the 19^th century and later region grown gradually.
