Damphu consisting of gentle slopes and mild climate is a town on the north to south highway passing through Wangdue Phodrang to Sarpang and Gelephu. Damphu town forms the center of administration for the district of Tsirang. Damphu is 152 km away from the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu. The coordinates to Damphu are 27⁰01’ N and 90⁰06’ E. As per the census of 2006 the population in Damphu is 1,690.

Considered as one of the protected parks of Bhutan, the park spreads over an area of 670 square miles towards the Northern most part of Damphu. Plenty of wild exotic species of birds happen to inhabit Jigme Singye Wangchuck National Park.
